The first week at a new job can be really daunting, getting used to a brand-new environment surrounded by a completely new team, it’s natural to feel a little nervous!
We’ve put together some simple tips to help make that first week just a little bit easier!
It can be hard to remember the name of every new team member you meet, but try your best to get to know people’s names, it’ll save any awkward encounters in the coming weeks!
In those first few days, it’s really important to put yourself out there and go above and beyond. It’s a great way to demonstrate your skills and show your colleagues that you can handle everything your new role throws at you.
Get to know the team
Start to build a rapport with your colleagues. Get to know their job within the team and how you can work together, but also spend some time to find out about their interests and discover common ground.
Get to know the culture
Every company works differently, you may be going from a relaxed environment to a more high-pressured company, or vice versa. Taking some time to observe the workplace and figure out the company culture is a great way to manage expectations and work out what is to be expected of you.
Last but by no means least, remember that you’ve worked hard for this new job, so enjoy it!
